About Me
Brad Ross-MacLeod was introduced to electronic music through the seminal radio shows Diaspar and Stars End on WXPN in Philadelphia. He was drawn to the early music of Steve Roach, especially upon hearing the subtle atmospherics of Structures From Silence. He encouraged one of his college professors to offer an electronic music course which is where he first got his hands on synthesizers and got hooked.
In the days when the internet was becoming a source for music discovery, he began exploring the many artists and labels offering free downloads of ambient music. He started a blog, Free Floating, which focused on beatless ambient music that could be downloaded (legally) for free. The blog turned into a radio show on Stillstream Radio and eventually an online label. Inspired by these musicians and with the advent of relatively inexpensive software synthesizers and DAWs, he began making his own ambient music under the name C.paradisi.
In recent years, his musical interest has turned to more rhythmic ambient music and the exploration of sequenced music in the Berlin Style and its descendants. This lead to his new musical project, Synchysis, where he is beginning to create his own hypnotic cyclic soundworlds. He wants to share his love of these sounds through his program The Main Sequence, where he hopes to introduce listeners to artists, labels, and pieces inspired by the music of the past but of today and looking toward the future.
